Community Leadership in Eilat

Description:
The training program has three main goals: to train a group of high-caliber leaders who can work together but also individually; to effect change and to substantially improve all aspects of life in Eilat; to ensure very high personal work standards of every participant in the training program; and to develop and implement programs initiated by the participants, both individually and collectively, during and after the training program.

This is a two-year program. The first year is spent mainly on studying theory and developing a vision and general avenues for action. The second year is devoted to planning and implementing the programs designed by the participants.

Participants:
The group is comprised of people who work in social affairs, education, economics, the environment, social services, culture, the media and other fields. They have proven their involvement in society and their social commitment, their desire to spearhead change, and their willingness to assume responsibility for what happens around them.


Subject matter:

The program addresses societal, political, and spatial issues through studying about cities like Eilat. Some of the main topics covered are the state, district authorities, local government, and civil society; multiculturalism; socioeconomic disparities and their impact on educational indicators; social services; immigrant absorption; resort towns; and questions of social planning, leadership, and change.
