Creating a map of the Jewish World Here at the Mandel Leadership Institute, we’ve been doing some thinking about what kind of leaders really make a difference to Jewish education and Jewish life. We’ve come up with a map that we’ve found useful, and we think you might be interested....
We’re also pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for the 2008-9 academic year of the Mandel Fellows in Jewish Education, a program for outstanding social entrepreneurs, Jewish educators, and communal leaders. The Mandel Fellows in Jewish Education (MFJE) is a one-year, residential fellowship program in Jerusalem from September through July.
Target Audience: The fellowship is aimed at exceptional mid-career professionals with a proven track record in Jewish educational and/or communal leadership. The program provides Fellows with a rich, supportive environment, over the course of a year, in which to:
- Develop a compelling vision of what they are seeking to achieve in the next phase of their careers, along with a strategic plan of how to implement it.
- Reflect on their professional practice, examining the fundamental assumptions that have informed their work to date.
- Challenge and refine their conceptions of the goals and methods of contemporary Jewish education, through study with top scholars, policymakers and practitioners from around the world.
The Fellowship covers the cost of transportation to and from Israel, rent, basic health insurance for the Fellow and her/his family, a book allowance, and a monthly stipend to cover living expenses for the duration of the program.
