Teacher Learning
Since the l980's when "teacher learning" emerged as a new focus of research, we have made some progress in understanding how people learn to teach and develop their identity and practice over time. In this session we will consider different "theories" of teacher learning and consider their implications for teacher education policy and practice.

Sharon Feiman-Nemser, Ph.D.
SHARON FEIMAN-NEMSER is the Mandel Professor of Jewish Education at Brandeis University and director of the Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education.

Before coming to Brandeis, Sharon was a Professor of Teacher Education at Michigan State University where she served as Senior Researcher with several national research centers. A leading scholar of teacher education, she has written extensively about mentoring, new teacher induction, teacher learning and the curriculum and pedagogy of teacher education. Her recent book, Transforming Teacher Education: Reflections from the Field, written with colleagues from Michigan State, was published in 2007 by Harvard Education Press.
