Mandel Leadership Institute Graduation Ceremony, June 5th 2007

At this year's annual Graduation Ceremony, 71 fellows from the five programs of the Mandel Leadership Institute graduated from their long-term course of study. The ceremony was held in Jerusalem and attended by Chairman of the Mandel Foundation, Morton Mandel.

Brigadier-General Eli Shermeister, Head of the IDF’s Education & Youth corps and MK Isaac Herzog, Minister of Welfare and Social Affairs, were also present at the ceremony and both addressed the audience.

Minister Herzog praised the contribution of MLI fellows and graduates, “The program offered by the Mandel Leadership Institute strengthens the inner fiber of the ministry and gives the civil servants critical tools enabling them to be the enzymes of leadership within the system."

"The MLI graduates will be the future leaders of Israeli civil service,” said Herzog, concluding: "At this time the State of Israel is coping with many challenges, including that of mediocrity versus excellence, and excellence is provided at MLI."

Brigadier-General Shermeister commended the new graduates of the IDF Educational Leadership Development program for their diligence, investment and high level of learning, and expressed thanks to Morton Mandel and the Mandel Leadership Institute for their contribution to the IDF leadership and the State of Israel.

Morton Mandel, also addressed the graduates, staff and faculty of MLI:
“I’d like to think we’re making a difference to your lives and that you’re making a difference to this country, which in my eyes is linked to the future of the Jewish people. We’re proud to have our family name linked to you and your activities. May this be the beginning of a life-long relationship.”

This year’s graduates will join hundreds MLI alumni in Israel and abroad working to create a new social and educational reality.
