The Visions Unit

The Visions Unit aims to enhance the quality and impact of Jewish and Israeli education through attention to the ideas that frame their purposes and guide their practices. The project was launched with the publication of Visions of Jewish Education, edited by Seymour Fox, Israel Scheffler and Daniel Marom (Cambridge University Press, 2003). This volume argues that education will be effective when it is driven by a clear philosophy and it offers alternative educational visions authored by leading Jewish scholars and educators. Using the contents and methods of the book as its basis, the project seeks to invigorate and deepen current orientations to Jewish and Israeli education through exposure to new ideas and it works to cultivate vision-guided practice among Jewish and Israeli educators.
