Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations (Case Western Reserve University)

Established in 1984, the Mandel Center is a university-based academic center that offers an interdisciplinary graduate degree program for nonprofit managers. The Center is sponsored by four schools of Case: the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences; the Weatherhead School of Management; the School of Law; and the College of Arts & Sciences. The mission of the Center is to enhance the effectiveness of nonprofit leaders and their organizations through education, research and community service.

The Mandel Foundation helped found and is a major funder of the Center. A collaborative strategic planning effort between the Mandel Foundation and the Mandel Center has resulted in two new programs: a dual-credential program between the Mandel Center and the School of Law; and a joint venture between the Mandel Center and the Weatherhead School of Management that offers an Executive Doctorate in Management. This is the first "practice-oriented" doctoral-level program in the United States designed specifically for leaders and managers of nonprofit organizations.
