Mandel Center for Leadership in the Negev

The goals of the Mandel Center for Leadership in the Negev, created in conjunction with Ben Gurion University, include initiating and hosting a variety of activities all designed to achieve a marked increase in the number and effectiveness of visionary and empowered leaders in the local authorities, and in educational and social spheres of the Negev;  an invigorated and entrepreneurial public and private sector leadership; and an improved pattern of civil and dialogic Jewish-Bedouin relations in the Negev.

The center wishes to serve as an agent for change through the initiation of several projects and programs catered to professionals from the public, municipal and non-profit sectors. Some of these include leadership training programs, coaching, assisting in policy or change implementation and facilitating forums for discussions and planning.

The MCLN programs:

Professionals from local authorities, education systems and non-profit organizations take part in the intensive leadership programs.
These professionals work to develop teams that will provide policy planning, infrastructure and educational planning for the Negev communities.

The programs provide an arena for learning, deliberation and linking theory to practice. Major components of the programs at the Center include identification of participants' professional activities and their underlying values, development of philosophical and theoretical backgrounds relevant to the professional roles of participants, defining challenges and learning practices in order to find solutions and thus develop a work plan or policy paper.

The Center's activities and programs facilitate professional networks throughout the Negev and link professionals and lay leaders to agencies working with Negev related agencies and organizations.
