The Monthly Visions Colloquium is an ongoing meeting of 20 Jewish Educational leaders and graduates of the Mandel Jerusalem Fellows program in the Boston area. Prof. Israel Scheffler has spoken with the group about his chapter, "The Concept of the Educated Person: With Some Applications to Jewish Education," published in Visions of Jewish Education, and answered their questions (total time: 1 hour, 50 minutes).

Visions of Jewish Education Pedagogical Seminar

The Pedagogical Seminar, led by Barry Holtz, is a continuing workgroup for college and university faculty who are teaching Visions of Jewish Education in various settings. The first video to be released from seminar shows Daniel Marom's presentation to the group, and its response, on the topic of "Menachem Brinker's Vision in American Jewish Education," January 2004 (total time: 1 hour, 20 minutes). An audio recording of this presentation, with questions from participants, is now online.

Prof. Israel Scheffler has also spoken with the group about the process of writing his chapter in Visions of Jewish Education and participating in the Visions of Jewish Education Project over the course of more than a decade. The session includes discussion and questions from the participants (running time: 1 hour, 27 minutes).

Discussion Evening with Prof. Chaim Waxman

In June 2006, a group of educators, rabbis and researchers met with Prof. Chaim Waxman, professor emeritus of sociology at Rutgers University in NJ and currently a senior fellow at the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute in Jerusalem, to discuss his paper, "The Role and Authority of the Rabbi in American Society." This seminar was part of the VJEP's ongoing work with Modern Orthodox Communities (running time: 50 minutes).

The PEJE Arts Network Retreat

In June, 2004, Project Director Daniel Marom led a session on the role of the arts in alternative visions of Jewish education at the annual conference of the Arts Network sponsored by PEJE (the Partnership for Excellence in Jewish Education). The workshop concerns the problem of what, if anything, visions have to say about the arts in education (running time: 3 hours, 15 minutes).
